Frida Kahlo.
She was
born in Coyoacan, Mexico in 1907. Frida Kahlo was a great Mexican Painter.
Although she was in the atmosphere of the Mexican muralists of her time, Frida
Kahlo created a paint absolutely personal.
By the time
she was 18 years old, she had a serious accident that forced a long
convalescence, during this time she learned to paint. On august 21st,
1929, she married Diego Rivera. In 1932, she had an abortion that affected his
delicate sensibility and inspired two of his paints: Henry Ford Hospital and Frida
y el Aborto.
When Breton
knew of her paints, he invited her to France and New York, but in France, they
didn’t like her paints. In 1953, she had to amputate the leg below the knee due
to gangrene infection. During that time she didn’t paint, but she wrote poems
in her diaries, all related with pain and remorse.
She died in
Coyoacán on July 13th of 1954. She was veiled in the Palacio de Bellas
Artes, in Mexico City. Her last words were: "Espero alegre la
salida y espero no volver jamás".
